...out with the old and in with the new...

This was the last set at the "old' Basement Club...although the new and improved Basement Club will be at the same location.
Draki, in one of his many outfits. Always fun to have you around.

The Basement Club has a bit of an elegance flavor to it but it is a cozy new place. We hope everybody will come here and enjoy it.

As you land here, just walk through the door into the club or if you want to go to the upper level you use the teleports, either the manhole or the one at the arrow.
There will be "male" dancers here at the Basement Club. We encourage all men who want to come and dance the poles to come on over here. Try them out and see if you like them. I know the ladies will enjoy watching. We do have 3 regular dancers for your enjoyment. Our first show will begin October 5, 2017 6-8 PM SLT see you there :)

11th annual Hipville Halloween

11th annual Hipville Halloween... Double, double, toil and trouble. Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble!! Come on over & get spooked, Halloween items for sale too, lots of photo props, cuddle areas...Most of all just enjoy yourself.. ; )

Yes, Fall is here and we are ready for it too. The colors of Fall are ever so beautiful and Greg and I decided to go and explore some Halloween sims and we stumbled up The Hipville Halloween. This is a fun place to walk around in and the hunt will give you some neat and different items you can use for your Halloween decor. We enjoyed it. The sounds seem kind of loud as well as the music but I just turned it off and it made it enjoyable. Stop by and check it out when you can.
Greg had to bob for apples. Apple bobbing, also known as bobbing for apples, is a game often played on Halloween. The game is played by filling a tub or a large basin with water and putting apples in the water. Because apples are less dense than water, they will float to the surface. Players (usually children) then try to catch one with their teeth. Use of arms is not allowed and often are tied behind the back to prevent cheating.

I was thinking this may have a meaning because I read up about bobbing for apples and here is what I found:

The tradition of bobbing for apples dates back to the Roman invasion of Britain when the conquering army merged their own celebrations with traditional Celtic festivals. The Romans brought with them the apple tree, a representation of the goddess of fruit trees, Pomona. During an annual celebration, young unmarried people try to bite into an apple floating in water or hanging from a string; the first person to bite into the apple would be the next one to be allowed to marry. So go ahead Greg, keep biting, Hahahahaha.

Oh well, he is strong in other ways. He can lift me with one arm and balance on a ball. Freaky in its own way. Who needs normal anyway?

Fireside Lullaby

We absolutely adore sitting outside on the balcony and watching the fire. The colors and the night blend so nicely together.

Fireside lullaby
poem by Basmakyah Borz

I've walked the world over
to be under your skies
and nothing compares
to seeing your eyes.

Please sing me to sleep,
I'm far beyond tired;
this is all I asked for
and it's sitting by a fire.

Now I don't know if it's the medicine
or if I'm really dying,
but if I die beside you
I know I won't die crying.

The Retreat is getting ready for Halloween and Fall, so stop by and feel the warmth of the fire outside and watch out for the ghosts and other creatures lurking around the Retreat. The Halloween Pumpkin Hunt will start October 1.

Upcoming Basement Improvements

We have been planning to make the original Basement Club look better and make it a little bigger to fit more friends here so they can dance. This will take a little time to get it all done, but we think this will look great. The upper Basement will remain the same because it looks great surrounded by the Retreat.

Thank you, Greg and Dandy for your input on the renovation plans for the Basement Club. I am excited to work together on this as the planning team :)

So look for it in the coming weeks...the New and Improved Basement Club for your dance needs and hang out with friends place.

Khodovarikha

Khodovarikha – in Russian: Ходовариха – is a weather station located on the coast of the freezing Barents Sea. It consists of a land spit projecting eastwards (Latitude: 68° 57′ Longitude: 53° 45′).
You can visit this place in Second Life. Wear some warm clothes when you come here because it is very cold. We had to take little breaks to warm up. I think Greg even fell asleep. (What else is new!)

You will see some gorgeous northern lights in the sky. It looks so pretty in this cold place.

We even had Mario visit here, I guess he was looking for Luigi....lol
Why not stop by today and explore before it is gone. Khodovarikha

The Bride of Frankenstein

Since I cannot be anyone's bride I decided I will be the bride of Frankenstein. After all the real Frankenstein castle is located in Germany near my hometown.

Little is known certainly of Dippel, whose life is shrouded in mystery and legend. His interest in alchemy led him to search for the elixir vitae and the philosopher's stone, and he is said to have been interested in creating artificial life. He was also alleged to practice grave-robbing. Dippel's Oil, a concoction of bones, blood, and other bodily fluids distilled in iron tubes and other alchemical equipment, was intended as the elixir vitae but served only as a stimulant. Dippel offered his next formula, which he claimed was the true elixir of life, to the Landgrave of Hesse in exchange for Castle Frankenstein. It is said that Dippel signed his name "Frankenstein" after his place of residence.

The connection between Dippel and the Castle of Frankenstein on the Rhine near Darmstadt has led some critics to suggest Dippel as the original of Mary Shelley's Victor Frankenstein. But the paucity of material about his actual life leaves much room for doubt, and many of the traits attributed to him may post date Mary Shelley's novel. There is also considerable doubt about whether Mary Shelley could have known about Dippel's life.

Stop by the Retreat, we are getting ready for Halloween and you never know " Herr Dippel" may suddenly appear. Perhaps you see the bride of Frankenstein.

REZZ Day and the 7:31

“Anyone can love a rose, but it takes a great deal to love a leaf. It’s ordinary to love the beautiful, but it’s beautiful to love the ordinary”

Well if that is true I may not be a rose nor a leaf. Today was my REZZ Day. A Rezz Day in Second Life is the day when you logged on for the very first time as your avatar. The day you were born into the "in world" of residents. To some, this is a big day to be celebrated big and to others just another day. Exactly like we would do it in real life. Those of you are roses may be remembered and the leaves may not get those good wishes.

I got this  "Kiss me, it's my rezz day" from a total stranger today. That was not ordinary but very cool. At least I got something. It is the little things that count.

Later that day at the Sunday set at the Basement Club we played the "Travis Train" game and for the first time, we had CANDI guessed the time exactly on the dot...yeah for 7:31. If you are wondering what the game is all about and how to win some lindens, then come by the 6-8 PM SLT set on Sundays at the Basement Club.

Greg landed in the water because of his forgetfulness

ok, I will give him another chance to redeem :)

Totally 80s Club

"A warm cozy club where 80's music reigns all the time! Chat with the DJs, staff and other fans of the 80s music in this fun club filled with dancing and other activities."

One thing for sure coming here will be an adventure because the people are unique and they love the 80s.
Totally 80s Club.

I am happy to announce that I have a regular set there every Saturday from 8-10PM SLT. Why not stop by and check it out.

The people are friendly and yes like I mentioned unique. You never know who will join the Conga line. It could be an angel, a horse, fox or the fluffy Super Baar, well even Greg joined this line. (Maybe I need to worry a little about him.)

Hope to see you there:

Fall has arrived

The Retreat has its fall colors. The yellow rapaseed (AKA as rapeseed) plant can be seen throughout the Retreat. The plant is used for canola oil and also biofuels in Europe and Canada. Very little is used in the United States, which is kind of sad when you think about it how pretty the plant is and what great uses you have for it.

I love this time of year and it reminds me of home in many ways.

You can see miles and miles the yellow flax blooming in Fall in Germany. It is a gorgeous sight.
