Pet Therapy

We had a fantastic turn-out at our "Bring your Pet to the set " theme at the Basement Club lower level.
the crazy cat lady
If you never been to the Basement Club, you might want to come by on any Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the PM hours. We are a different kinda club without drama or pressure to become a member or tipster. You do get some benefits from being a member, which is to get notified when we have our next great event.

one of these cats is not like the other
Pets are very soothing to people and they are therapy. The therapeutic use of pets as companions is also becoming more common. Known as pet therapy or animal-assisted therapy (AAT), relationships with animals are encouraged and integrated into the care plan. When ownership is not possible, service companies and volunteer organizations bring animals to the seniors on a regular basis.

Dandy was a good "cat" with a pet rat
Cats can be wonderful companions, but before you get a cat, make sure you are willing to make the commitment to provide your cat with the necessities, and you will not mind adapting your life a little bit to accommodate your new feline family member.
Let's see if we can lure Greg into the cage. Some pets are wild and need a little discipline.

If you missed this set of " Bring your pet to the set" then you are in  luck because DJ Dandy and Likka will bring it back On Monday January 29 from 8-10 PM SLT at the Club . Don't miss it.

Don't fall for these kind of people...

I am no angel and I never claimed to be one, but I do feel I am good...

The reason why I bring this up is because I recently DJed at a club and it was during the week in the evening when you expect the crowd to be less than the "Gravy-Train" time and one person in the audience typed: "Oh you got to be good to have followers".

I am not sure how to take the comment but let me explain my idea of being good. First of all there are 100s of DJs in SL for all genre of music and some are good and some are, well there.

Any fool can play songs from a playlist they saved and then shuffle it and play it again and again and again...boring. There is no talent in that at all. I never save playlists. I create a new list every single time I DJ, because I feel I play music not just songs.

Sure that take a little longer to create and you actually have to think about what songs you are going to play instead of loading a playlist that is ready to go.

Another thing is tips...of course you want a little something for the effort and the time you committed for the set you played, but it is not really all about that. I feel if people really enjoyed themselves and it brought them a smile, I'd rather have just 2 or 3 people there instead of a room of 30, who may really not want to be there in the first place, but feel obligated to the DJ to tip and be present. I call these DJs manipulators. They have the constant urge to control people.

They are an emotional black hole. Whatever emotional manipulators are feeling, they’re geniuses at sucking everyone around them into those emotions. If they’re in a bad mood, everyone around them knows it. But that’s not the worst part: they’re so skillful that, not only is everyone aware of their mood, they feel it too. This creates a tendency for people to feel responsible for the manipulator’s moods and obliged to fix them.

Remember: nobody can manipulate you without your consent and cooperation.

Come in your underwear....

...I think there are many names for your underwear. I found quite a few for what men might call their underwear: Shorts, Trolleys, Grundy's, Scants ,Skivvies, Sausage Skins, Keck's, Underoo's, Manties, Truncheon holder. This gave me a brilliant idea, kinda an devilish plan, but oh well...a dinosaur told me to do it.

The dinosaur told me to do it
So, here we all were as I was DJing on a Sunday night at the Basement Club waiting for Travis Train to arrive ( Travis is actually the name Greg, it kind of evolved into a guessing game about what time he would arrive. Who says we only have to play music to entertain the people, right?

Since Greg was not online yet, I send him a little instant message and told him: Hey Babe wear your underwear tonight at the Basement because that is the theme. (I will be in so much trouble, but oh well the laughs will be endless.)

Here is a little side note about wearing underwear and not going commando  how many times have you tried to shake your willy dry but still have a few drops in your drawers? You might’ve lost count already. There are many ways to avoid having this accident but men still suffer from it. It will get worse with age. To avoid unwittingly staining your front, always wear underwear.

But back to the story, so there is Greg logged on and he replies: I don't have any underwear. I tell him well wear something like trunks or briefs...He replies, well I have a towel. I smile: PERFECT :)

Now of course, we are all dressed in our party clothes and wait patiently for his arrival. And then there he is standing there in his of all colors "pink" towel.

What, why am I the only one wearing this?
As he finally rezzed in, he quickly realizes he has been had as he calls it. All I can do is laugh and laugh.

So of course he now questions this entire stunt and wants to know who is behind it. Who set this up?

Who did this? It was Likka, wasn't it?
So, now Greg is planning a revenge on poor innocent me.
...and his brain is already thinking of something.

Reverend DrakiAzul

Draki Azul is the Retreat's Pet. You may run into him when you stop by here. He is always friendly, informative and he can tell you lots about furries I am sure.

What are furries? (I don't really know, but they are some cute human like animals here in Second Life)

"The furry community, referred to by many as furry fandom, or just the fandom, is the virtual universe inhabited by all those who refer to themselves as "Furries."
It is a separate entity from what many fans of furry entertainment mean when they use the term furry fandom. To a traditional furry fan, furry fandom means fans of furry characters, period. But the community encompasses a great deal more than just the fandom for furry characters. It includes elements of religion, lifestyle and philosophy.
"Furriness" is the action of doing anything related to the furry character of a person." Wiki-Fur
To be honest, I'd rather have furries running around the Retreat than some weird perv avatars, that's why I made the Retreat and The Basement Club furry save. They are welcome here.

Do you want to build a snowman?

The magic of snow is mostly welcomed after a long hot summer, but I know that some people complain the minute they see the white stuff.

"There's just something beautiful about walking in snow that nobody else has walked on. It makes you believe you're special."

Then our child within comes out and we want to build a snowman. As a child I loved the quiet falling snow and how beautiful everything looked in the forest and even the dirty busy cities. It brought some kind of peace to the people.

Take time out for a snow day, soon enough you will be sweating in that heat again and wishing it would snow. There are many cool places in Second Life you can still enjoy the snow, just do a search in the winter destinations. Have fun and enjoy :)

Santa, you forgot a reindeer!

I think it is Donner ( which comes fromThor, and of course would see me, lol )
I think even Santa makes mistakes. I found this guy still wandering around the Retreat and I am convinced it belongs to Santa. I just don't know who it is?

There is a history about the names of the reindeer in case you ever wondered about it. Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen, Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen all have a meaning.

More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;
‘Now, Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! on, Cupid! on, Dunder and Blixem!’

The names have slightly changed to Donner and Blitzen, which means thunder and lightning in German. We can say for sure, though, that the names of two of Santa’s reindeer, as originally published about 170 years ago, were ‘Dunder’ and ‘Blixem,’ not ‘Donner’ and ‘Blitzen.’
I also found these raccoons :) I am keeping them.

NEVERFAR

“All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost.”
― J.R.R. Tolkien

Second Norway Railway is a wonderful start
When I travel in Second Life I never know where I end up and what I might see. Some places are pure gold and other well...I may never see again.

"Neverfar...home not far away. Winter has arrived at this serene and peaceful place, so come and explore this detailed photogenic sim with its finest majestic views."

This is one of those places you want to go and visit again. I liked the mood of the stillness here. Everything was calm and quiet and a wonderful place to take pictures.

It is also a nice place to go with someone where you can sit and enjoy the views and talk about the good stuff in life.

Stop by there today before it is all gone. You know that in Second Life things can change in an instant.
Take this link to the Neverfar sim....enjoy :)
