After you’ve taken out the trash, you can devote your time to the people who really care about you.

I have an ex-friend that I will probably never speak to again — not because I’m a grudge-holder — but because he has shown himself to be unworthy of my friendship. I am not going to put up with a bully in RL and most definitely in SL.

A person like that is most likely a lonely narcissist, who gets his power by pushing people around. I am not gonna let some chimpanzee run the show here. Nope. Oh yes, they never admit they did something wrong and will say it was all a joke. The joke stops here. And the friends of a fool like that who laugh with him when he abuses others are just as guilty.

What I love about SL is that you can just mute them and eject them and ban them. If it only was that easy in RL. To clear his name and fool himself into thinking that he never did anything wrong, he’ll shift all the blame onto you. He’ll come up with the most unreasonable and pathetic excuses so as to make you feel and look responsible for your failed relationship.

He’ll do his best to make you feel guilty for all the problems and difficulties you had in the relationship and take full responsibility for the breakup.

Think about it. Once you have thrown something in the garbage you do not go back and look for it. This feels good.
Free at last.

SL 18B : Exploring Backdrops

Go inside Art!!!

Ginger Lorakeet and her Inside Art are back once again here at the SL 18B exhibits. I have been a fan of hers for many years. It makes for some stunning pictures for all of us photographers in Second Life
.

Simba, the circle of life!
A tribute to wildlife and especially the Lion King beautifully set up for picture taking. I felt like I was part of  Simba's life. I love this as a backdrop very much. People have such talents to create things.

An underwater aquarium to educate you about sharks in the oceans. You can learn stuff every day here in second life, all you have to do is look around.

For me, that is important as a teacher.

I found some amazing live performers here at the SL 18B. Not only did they play their music they also dressed up in some fabulous avatars.

Underwater aquarium

The main stage unlike anything you have ever seen is a must to go and visit, even if you do not like to listen to the live performers. Go see the stage!

Live performers at the Main Stage

There are also plenty of gardens and woods to fulfill your fantasy dreams.

We don't create a fantasy world to escape reality. We create it to be able to stay. There is the real world and the fantasy world. Both are real in many ways because fantasy is created by us. And we are real so that makes the fantasy world real as well.

I had tons of fun exploring and this was just a fraction of what is there.
I hope you go and visit the exhibits, the performers, the DJs very soon before it is all gone.

Happy Birthday, Second Life!!!

SL18B - At the DJ Stage

DJ Dandy and DJ Likka from the Basement Club both had their performances at the super cool DJ stage in Second Life. Wow!!! What an amazing stage.

There was an inflow of many avatars and you could tell they really were enjoying not only the scenery but the music. So many happy people here to celebrate 18 years of Second Life.

This has been our 3rd year representing the Basement Club at the Birthday Event. It is always an honor to participate in this. The events are also a nice place to meet people from all over the world. I met some from Russia who were here and can you believe it someone who is from my hometown of Frankfurt, Germany.
I am always amazed how the world can come together like this in one place.
Thank you Second Life for a8 years of fun, laughter, creativity, and making new friends.

SOBE - South Beach

Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow:
You are not wrong who deem
That my days have been a dream;

Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.

I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand--
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep--while I weep!
O God! can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?
~Edgar Allan Poe

Actually, in that dream of a dream, I was visiting Sobe- South Beach, which depicts Miami's iconic, pastel, and bold Art Deco buildings on Ocean Drive.

It is worth a trip and a beautiful place to take those vacation photographs. Summer is here and the beaches are calling you. Go check it out today!

Oh darn! And then his wife shows up and I better scan my camera to something else. Just my luck as always.

SL18B Exhibit: "Ablyss' - Manx Wharton and Zinnia Zauber"

"Gray clouds are a prism. ablyss is an immersive art installation in which users experience a range of the 'seen and unseen' in the tension between the 'dread' of the mundane and the 'joy' of discovery."

It was a super cool party amongst the rainbow colors and 80s music by DJ Vivi. It kind of has that psychedelic feeling. I even run into some Basement Dwellers here which was super fun. I plan on visiting a few other installations this year because last year I did not have the time to do so because I was tending my own.

Come and check it out if you missed it and dance in the rainbow of colors. The colors in the rainbow can bring out a number of emotions but putting them all together creates a mood of peace and happiness.

For instance, the color Red is used in almost every culture to designate warning or danger while also representing love and passion. It is also the first color in the rainbow. Orange represents creativity, joy, vibrancy, happiness, playfulness, and youth. At the same time, it is also a powerful color.

Yellow is naturally associated with the sun and its life-giving energy, though in a less intense way than orange or red. Green, being the color of both money and nature may seem to be a bit of a conflicting color also, but remember, we colored money green!

The color Blue invokes a spiritual sentiment. It is non-threatening and depicts security, trust, compassion, stability, patience, and mysticism. Blue is the color of distance and represents the sky, the oceans, and the heavens.

The color Indigo implies infinity, mysticism, spiritual attainment, and heavenly grace and is in fact the least well-known of all the colors of the rainbow. Violet, it is a royal color signifying nobility. Purple robes were worn by royalty and people of authority or high rank.

Randomness stalks us every day of our lives.

Sometimes you have to do something completely random. Of course, being random might not come in handy when you are talking to people and you all of a sudden say: "caterpillar" because that was in your mind at the moment. It may come across as being known as a weirdo. Well, that's ok if people don't understand my random thoughts of things. Not everything has to have its place.

Through my search of places to visit in Second Life, I stumbled upon Cloven Forest. This is a calm and quiet place to maybe help you with your random thoughts if they don't turn themselves off.

It is a magical place for photography of the mystical forest. You will find many spots here to take a few snapshots or better yet dress for the occasion and you have a natural backdrop of random trees and landscaping.

Life is a series of random collisions and when it is all finished you will discover it was never random.

Randomness is the quality of having no apparent order. If you want a really good password that no one can hack, you want a lot of randomness in it — no numbers or words that clearly pertain to your life.

So, be random and visit a new place you have never been to and take some random snapshots. Oh wait, now it is planned and may not is random anymore.

Like I said before: "Caterpillar."

Humility is sweeter than honey

"I’m writing a book on how to stay conscious when you drown and if the words float up to the surface I’ll keep them down. This is the first time I know I don’t want the crown you can take it now."

Sometimes I wish that Second Life would have been around much longer than it is now. I know I would have met him here and we would have danced in the field of daisies like we did when I was in Texas.

Today (June 13) on the Feast Day of St. Anthony of Padua I remember you and all the poems we wrote together. The adventures of the angel and the fisherman who were guided by our imagination that actually became true.

A mid-afternoon dance in the sun
a way to begin the hundred hours
for the Fisherman and the Angel's fun
had been predestined by great powers!

The internet was still very new and email was the way we would communicate. But oh, just think of the fun we would have had if Second Life was around at that time. We could have built that world of Shamrock Hill.

He thought, if only he would have told her to stay and accepted her heavenly love it would have never happened this way as he looked to the Heavens, he saw a white dove.

The dove sat down on the icy pond and chirped in a human voice, " I grant thee one wish, for of thee I am fond." And now the Fisherman was faced with a choice.

St. Anthony himself said: The spirit of humility is sweeter than honey, and those who nourish themselves with this honey produce sweet fruit. So here is my advice if you lost something maybe Anthony can help. I am not a religious person but I do believe his powers have helped me many times to find something that I could not locate. (Make a note: ask St. Anthony to help you find stuff in your inventory.)

Muddle

Like confetti scattered around
in my mind of confusion
exploiting my most intangible
thoughts about life and romance.
I obliterate any vague chance
of knights pursuing my existence,
trying to express fond endearments
in their quest of convincing me
to surrender my delicate heart.
~anjelikka

One of my favorite places at the Retreat is the cemetery. I like the quiet and peaceful setting
that reminds me of my German childhood. Many times when my mind is in utter muddle I come here and try to sort things out. What I love about Second Life that you can create an area that can be a spot where you can come to and forget about everything. A complete representation of a physical realm and so much more can be found here.
Almost 10 years ago when I first logged in with my account I knew that I found a place that is always here when I need it...and it is.

We are so lucky in this age and time to have this form of communication and exploration to a never-finished world and that is forever changing. I do like the idea that some things stay the same in Second Life, like my cemetery. The only thing that changes here is the seasons just like in the real world.

You can only do what you’re capable of at the time.

When a man falls in your pool out of the sky, what would you do? Rescue him or let him drown?

Of course, you try to help out. Right? But then I think of the last one that fell in there and what I had to find out as he said to me:

Well I'm tired of hanging around
I want somebody new
I'm not sure who I've got in mind
But I know
That it's not you.

And I said: You ask me questions
That I never wanted to hear I am the only one just until you finish this year.
Here is my hand and you just laugh
'cause you don't understand. And now something, something holds me, holds me hypnotized.
It was only yesterday waving arms across the street. Your gray face left me blue. How can I say all the things I have to say to you? Oh, all the people here all look the same the little time I spend with you.

And now there is this man who needs my help and is saved from the wrath of the unmistaken confusion of what the world is. Do I save him or do I just let him drown? My hope is that I have the strength to save a soul because you let me drown and never looked back. I don't know whether you can look at your past and find, woven like the hidden symbols on a treasure map, the path that will point to your final destination. But I will find it.
