Timeline Shift?

Hold it for a second. 

Seems like that is what people are talking about lately. Think about it when you have been living in Second Life for more than ten years, you have been teleported to a shift as you realize that so many years you spent time on this one thing. 

You live here in this 3-D virtual world, you have a home, a persona and you suddenly realize this is part of your life. That is a true timeline shift. Every time there is an update of Firestorm it is a shift.

When you first started your avatar had only freebies to cover its pixels and then you shifted to mesh, a mesh body, a mesh head. You shifted from a 512 sqm parcel to half a sim or maybe an entire homestead.

And suddenly you are part of the Teddy Bear's Picnic.

In this case, the woods can be filled in as Second Life and there is always a surprise waiting for you.

It's a very simple children's song. It was originally recorded in 1907 by The Edison Symphony Orchestra.

You know you have no care when you are in a club in Second Life and you dance like a weirdo showing off your disguise. Once you realize this you have crossed over the timeline shift. You know I am telling the truth.

Xaraz Gallery : Dr. Elvis' Moai Art

I was very fortunate to be invited to this art exhibit held at the Xaraz Gallery here in Second Life. I mean who doesn't like art to inspire you and smile and feel good about it?

This week's art was by Dr. Elvis who found an innovative way to create his passion for Moai statues into an AI-generated artform. The results were some vibrant pictures that have humor and class and stand out.

The event was entertained by DJ Casey, who plays some incredible music you just don't hear everywhere. Hosted by Veyot. You can read more about her visits to other art galleries and such on her blog. Feel free to check it out.

I always feel good when I am around people who appreciate creativity.

There are many pictures here so make sure you check the downstairs and all around this venue. 

AI art, or generative AI, refers to creating art using artificial intelligence to automate image creation, aid with creative writing, create music, build websites, and more. 

The art it creates varies and no image is ever the same. This type of creation you will be seeing more of in the future and you know the future is now.

When the real world is harsh..

There are days when the world around you is harsh and hard to cope with. Those are the days when I log into Second Life.

Today, July 13, 2024, marks the 23rd anniversary of my father's passing. I created my little cemetery here in Second Life at the Retreat because it reminds me of Germany when I lived across from the cemetery. Here I can honor and remember my loved ones and feel at peace.

The world out there is not always fair. People judge you, they may hate you and they may wish bad things upon you, those are the harsh realities of life. 

Despite your best efforts, not everyone will like you.
You can do everything right and still lose.

The world wasn't better when you were a kid, it just seemed that way because you were a kid.
You don’t have to stay friends with someone just because you have been friends for a long time.
Don't expect closure. 

BUT regardless of all of this happening, never lose yourself in the pity and sorrow of what others have done or the losses you have experienced. 

I come here to fuel up on peace when the real world is harsh and their words feel like bullets that graze my ear. I stand up and my spirit is still intact.

Never give up, keep going, and find your joy even when it seems hard. There is still joie de vivre in each one of us. Come to the Retreat and find yours.

May you rest in peace my dear father, you will never be forgotten for the courage and joy you gave me.

Time for Second Life's favorite Game

This Monday, Jul 15, 2024, DJ Bun G Chord will be hosting our Greedy Game night at the Basement Club.

Greedy Greedy is a simple, but highly addictive fast-paced dice game for 2 to 8 players. The objective of the game is to get as many points as you can without getting too "greedy". There is no limit to the number of rolls you can make in a turn, but if you fail to roll something of point value on each roll, then you lose everything you have accumulated for that turn.

So, why not come down to the Basement Club and listen to some out-of-this-world Indie & Alt Tunes while playing this fun game. If you never played Greedy before, we will teach you. It is not hard at all.

The Basement Club is open 24/7 with a variety of DJs and music styles. The Greedy table is also available at any time behind the Retreat Gallery.

Last chance to see the Fin-Tastic Art Exhibit. This exhibit will close early on Friday, July 12, 2024.

After that, it will sadly be removed.

The Retreat Gallery is open to all residents 24/7 and always has some new exhibits to show you.

 This exhibit features watercolors not just by Anjelikka, but I also included some children's art. You will find some interesting facts about fish as well.
